RECEPTION THEORY → What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the RBK 50 Cent advert?   The negotiated reading in this 50 Cent advert would be people applying what they see from the advert to everyday life and might think that the company is praising 50 Cent for being a convicted criminal. The oppositional readings could be the different points of views people would have towards this advert E.G. good and bad.  → What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the advert of your own choice that you analysed for last week's work? The negotiated readings for this advert would be people thinking that a big mac is considered healthy due to the fact it is being advertised as a sandwich instead of a burger as people associated burgers with being unhealthy. The oppositional views would be when the consumers still believe that a big mac is a hamburger and shouldn't be advertised as something it is not, to try and trick consumers. → DEFINITIONS →E

I think that on most occasions media is not to blame for anti-social behaviour and violence. Although sometimes I do believe it could influence younger audiences I don't this it would encourage them o become violent. → How is social learning theory relevant in the digital age? Are young people now learning behaviour from social media and the internet? Give examples. In this interactive social media world, the application of social learning theory presents an opportunity to promote leaps in student achievement, as cognitive concepts of attention, memory, and motivation (Social Learning Theory, 2014) are encouraged by social media. → Research  three  examples of moral panic from the last 50 years. LR feedback

LR RESPONSE: www- There is a lot of potential here: extensive, detailed answers and Q3 shows good focus on the question. with some work on exam technique you will    definitely be pushing into the higher levels/grades. there are good elements in question 4 - discussions. EBI- Question focus is the key- in Q2 in particular. We'll           look at social and cultural contexts in class- The mark         scheme will also help. revise and add theory to Q1 and Q3. revise industry terminology ( Q2 ) mark scheme will help    with that. question 4 needed media effects theories: read and focus on exactly what the question is asking. question 3, need to not drift into discussion on advertising.

narrative

MIGRAIN: NARRATIVE → Give an example from film or television that uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium.  An example of how the Todorov theory can work in horror movies is in the film  The Descent . In this film, the equilibrium stage is at the beginning when all of the characters are seen rafting. They are all best friends, who are happy and having a good time. → Complete the activity on page 1 of the Factsheet: find a  clip  on YouTube of the opening of a new TV drama series (season 1, episode 1). Embed the clip in your blog and write an analysis of the narrative markers that help establish setting, character and plot.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjmDBKyemUw Stranger Things is a  fragmented narrative  because right from the start, we witness multiple parallel plot lines such as the laboratory, Eleven and the boys. We also see a non-chronological narrative strand in the flashback to Joyce and Will's conversation at castle
